What Is a Solicitation Disclosure Statement?
A solicitation disclosure statement is a required notice included in nonprofit fundraising materials to comply with state laws governing charitable solicitations. These statements provide transparency by informing donors about your organization’s registration status, tax deductibility of contributions, and other essential details. They build trust while ensuring your organization meets legal obligations.
Why This Matters
Including the right disclosure statement keeps your organization legally compliant and helps ensure donor trust.
Solicitation Disclosure Statements by State
This section outlines solicitation disclosure requirements for all 50 states. I’ve included links to state laws where necessary to ensure clarity and compliance. This list provides a useful starting point for understanding the general landscape of state-specific fundraising regulations. If your organization operates in other states, I recommend reviewing their specific requirements to ensure full compliance.
Important Note
I compiled this list with the assumption that you’ll be using these templates alongside the letters provided with your membership. As a result, I’ve omitted statements required in situations that don’t apply to this program—such as when your organization engages a professional solicitor. If you’re using a professional solicitor, please consult them to ensure your disclosure statement meets all necessary legal requirements.
